Glenrowan park is located about 5 minutes out of the town of Glenrowan heading over the train line, then turning right at the T-intersection. Once you turn right, it’s about 2kms down the road on your left.

The park itself is set on beautiful land, with the backdrop of the Warby ranges. The park is situated on 35 acres of bushland, with an abundance of native birds and wildlife which you will be happy to see once you arrive.

Just outside the park there is a great cycleway that can take you into the town of Glenrowan and also plenty of bushwalking to be had around the area. If you’re not into that, well the town is full of history. Being the location of where the infamous bushranger Ned Kelly and his gang held a siege at the Anne Jones Inn, back in 1880. Don’t forget to head out of town to where you will find a few wineries and even a brewery where you can try the local beverages.

When you get to the park you are welcomed by the hosts Amanda and Steve, who make you feel more than welcome in their park. When we arrived we were able to choose from various sites, which made the place more personable, rather than just being told to go to site 5 etc. The sites are small compared to the big parks, but perfect if you’re just basing yourself here while you explore the area.

The amenities, whilst not modern are clean and well presented. We found that the water pressure wasn’t great, and most of the sites didn’t have a sullage pipe for you to drain your waste water. So if you plan to have a shower or start the washing machine up, you may flood the neighbours and yourself. Better off to use the parks showers and laundry facilities.

If you don’t have a van, there are plenty of cabins to stay in also.

The camp kitchen is well equipped. It has all that you need for a bush setting such as this. Just off to the side of the camp kitchen is a games room with air hockey and table tennis to keep the kids amused. In the summer, I’m sure the crystal clean in ground pool would be welcome by the guests.

The park is extremely well priced, with sites starting from $25 per night, we have been paying over double this for some parks on the East coast.

If all of this doesn’t attract you, how about the fact that the park has plenty of firewood for you, free of charge to have your own campfire. Now this really is a great feature of the park!!! If you’re feeling a little more social, then there is a great area where you can sit and mingle with the other guests, with the warmth of the open fire.

The biggest drawcard for us was the proximity to the historic town of Glenrowan, and the price for the sites. You would be hard pressed to find a park this close to a major attraction such as Glenrowan for this good of value!
