Newnes Campground. It is one of the nicest places I have been, it is a 4×4 and camping haven, located about an hour North of Lithgow in the Wollemi National Park. It is a dirt road in but suitable for most vehicles. Newnes is an old oil shale mine town, and the mining relics are still there for all to see. It really is amazing to walking around and have a look.
The campground itself is brilliant, long drop toilets are onsite. However no water or any supplies are at the campground. There is an old pub at Newnes, however it does not sell supplies nor alcohol. It is basically a museum now. It really is a pub without beer!!!! (Not sure if I want to go back!!!)
If you are keen to 4×4, there are plenty of tracks around the area, contact the National Parks to get a map of the area!
Lots to see and do in the area, Glow Worm Tunnel, Bushwalking, 4×4. The best part about it, is that it is free to camp!!!
